Murder Mystery 2 plot summary
After traveling to a private island for the Maharajah’s wedding, Nick and Audrey become involved in yet another murder and kidnapping mystery. The Maharajah’s personal bodyguard, Louis, was killed when the groom himself was kidnapped.
Nick and Audrey identify the Colonel, Claudette, Sekou and his friend, Saira and Francisco as suspects in the case, as they are aware of the Maharaja’s special entrance to the sangeet ceremony.
The colonel hires a high-profile detective – Connor Miller – to solve the case. The kidnappers demand a $70 million ransom for the Maharaja’s life and ask Nick and Audrey to deliver him to Paris. In Paris, Nick and Audrey are taken elsewhere by their kidnappers.
What happens during Nick and Audrey’s trip with the kidnappers?
Meanwhile, their kidnapping interaction doesn’t go as planned, and the pair are taken on a trip elsewhere to reunite with the Maharaja.
The kidnapper threatens to kill Nick and Audrey if they don’t hand over the briefcase along with the money. Nick handcuffs himself to the briefcase.
The pair crash inside a restaurant as Nick deals with a third kidnapping and Audrey tries to navigate a van with a dead man in the driver’s seat. There, the couple learns that the cheese knife left in their room is Louis’ murder, and that they got away with the money, making them prime suspects in the investigation.
What happens after Nick and Audrey become prime suspects?
Miller finds the couple at a restaurant and takes the ransom money. He tells the Spitz that the news is fake and leaves with the briefcase. Audrey becomes suspicious of Miller and wonders if he is the kidnapper because he is carrying a lot of money with him.
Just then, the car Miller was driving burst into flames, killing him, and the briefcase was taken by the truck driver. Audrey notes the truck’s license plate number and they leave to go to the opera where they can meet Interpol Inspector Delacroix.
At the opera, Delacroix helps the couple locate the truck. They also borrow his car and phone. They call the colonel and ask him to stop the kidnappers until they find the man with the money. The pair arrive at the location and are shocked to see Countess Sekou and her accomplice Imani there.
The two women tie up the pair and Sekou kills Iman before running off with the money. Sekou sets the house on fire before leaving, but Imani shoots Sekou before he dies from the gunfire. Now, Nick and Audrey are worried about being framed for two more murders while trying to escape the scene as they close.
Nick and Audrey manage to free themselves and escape the burning house by jumping through a window into a pool of water. On the way out, the couple finds a Lamborghini, and by chance, Audrey gets behind the wheel of the luxury car again.
Is the Maharaja alive?
But to their shock, Maharajah enters the restaurant with a bomb strapped to his body. The Maharajah claims that the kidnappers wanted the money to be deposited in the elevator.
With only less than a minute left, Nick decides to stop, convinced that the bomb is fake. The bomb actually goes off after the countdown and the Maharajah is safe.
When the bomb explodes, Miller enters the restaurant through the glass windows. He takes the money and starts the timers for the bomb again before running away. Audrey grabbed Miller and ran to the top of the Eiffel Tower as Nick ran behind.
Upstairs, Audrey fights Miller trying to defuse the bomb, Nick fights Miller’s men. Audrey threatens to throw away the suitcase full of money if Miller does anything to the detonator. After reaching the top, Nick tries to shoot Miller with not one, but two guns. Despite all that, he can’t hit Miller.
Nick eventually destroys the detonator, which defuses the bomb. Miller pushes Audrey off the roof and takes the briefcase from her. Audrey confronts Nick Miller when he hangs himself from the tower with a harness he hid.
How does Murder Mystery 2 end?
Audrey and Nick manage to throw Miller off the top of the Eiffel Tower, and the man crashes into his waiting helicopter. Miller’s fall causes the plane to crash.
Audrey and Nick return to the restaurant, where Audrey notices something strange in the henna on Saira’s hand. He reveals that he hennaed Saira at the Sangeet night where the Maharaja was kidnapped.
Now that Saira’s true motives are revealed, she steals a gun from the colonel’s guards and tries to shoot the Maharaja. However, the colonel arrives in time and saves him, only to be shot in his only remaining arm.
Claudette helps fight off Saira and the soon-to-be married couple decide to elope. The Maharaja sends the couple a $10 million briefcase and asks them to finally go on a peaceful honeymoon.
But the pilot of the helicopter threatens to shoot them down and jumps out of the plane with the 10 million Nick, leaving Audrey in the helicopter as the movie ends.
